Manzanilla Style | Sherry

Manzanilla Sherry is famed for its martime notes and is a specific style of fortified wine produced exclusively in the bodegas of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The special climatic conditions of the town, situated at the mouth of the river Guadalquivar, favour the formation of a special kind of veil of flor which gives the wine its uniquely distinctive characteristics.

The winemaking process is similar to that of Fino Sherry. After fermentation, the wine is fortified with grape spirits (brandy) to raise the alcohol content to around 15-17%.

Characteristics: Manzanilla Sherry is pale in colour, similar to Fino, ranging from pale straw to light gold. What sets it apart is that it has crisp, fresh aroma with hints of yeast and a unique marine influence. is extremely dry, just like Fino Sherry. Flavour: It has a very pronounced briny, salty, and fresh sea breeze quality, which is often described as "maritime." You may also detect notes of green apple and almond.

Manzanilla Sherry is an exceptional choice for those who enjoy the vibrant and saline character of dry Sherries. It is a must-try for seafood lovers and pairs exceptionally well with dishes that have a fresh and briny quality. Manzanilla is an excellent representation of the terroir and microclimate of Sanlúcar de Barrameda.

Manzanilla Sherry is best served chilled between a temperature of between 7℃ and 10℃ It is typically enjoyed in small tulip-shaped glasses or copitas to concentrate the aromas. If these are not available, try a white wine glass.

Manzanilla Sherry's distinct briny character makes it a fantastic accompaniment for various dishes, including:
